Mine is completely cast too...that's the case that you want, they are stronger boxes, the input shaft has tapered bearings, where the later ones with the plastic caps have a straight bearing, which is the issue they have.

It's pretty straight forward to fit the end plate, the 4th gear support was a bot more of a {no swearing thanks}.

If you are swapping the gearing too, try get a box with the same tapered bearing setup....I didn't. These are the two input shafts...

Everything else in the box fits like for like, but you can't fit the taper bearings straight on the straight bearing shaft....where my finger is pointing is marginally bigger, I needed to get it machined down to fit.
The bottom part of the shaft is a little longer, the bearing fits fine, but the circlip won't line up....I measured it and it all clears, I just left the circlip off.

Oh ok.. that's good to know. Might follow suit then. Was going to leave my gears alone. I have a cupra r box and the ratios are reasonable. Did you bother replacing all the bearings of just the diff bearings?

I did them all, but only because I needed to reshim it all when I swapped the shafts, if it was all going back in the same box I wouldn't have bothered.

Previously my fuel set up was mk3 vr6 intank pump straight inline to Aem380, with 8mm fuel hose throughout. I had been hitting 80% injector duty cycle at 25psi on 840cc injectors. Probably 470bhp, where they should be able to support more like 650bhp at that duty cycle, if not more.

So since I have fitted a surge tank, first test, at full boost where I was hitting 11.2 afr, it went 9.8afr.

I am going to increase the fuel lines to at least 10mm, possibly 12, to future proof, as I am considering going 1600cc injectors, and running ethanol.

Sounds epic. Have you thought about ditching the swirl pot and going straight to the fpr from the tank.. a mate is doing an r32t ATM, he has an oem lift pump going to an uprated inline into the fpr. All oem lines. Aiming for around 550bhp. food for thought.

As a comparison for you I'm running an10 feed and an8 return. A1000 intank pump. 1000cc injectors. Untested though.

Yeah I've thought about all sorts of wierd and wonderful things...for now though this has solved my issues and it's the most common set up, probably for good reason.

Dakota 'unprepped' drag day was on yesterday, only got 4 runs in as it was busy.
The track is an ex airfield, it's pretty bumpy, so the first run I just wanted to take it easy and make it to the end of the track, I ran a 13.8.

And then it started raining....managed to get my best time down to 13.5 which for a wet bumpy track on road tyres, I'm pretty happy with, was only 0.2 behind top of the FWD class and missed out on the £250 prize.

Going to be changing the whole front set up, to take slicks next.
