I have a 2.0 litre golf mk4, recently was out of oil and all i had in the car at the time was 10-40w. so i used about a litre.
since then the car has been running dog rough. feels really lumpy on tick over and absolutely stinks of petrol if you just leave it ticking. have noticed aswel that my MPG has drpped alot. where id usually get about 25-26 mpg im getting getting around 15mpg.

i have no idea if the coice of oil has caused this problem but i need to get it sorted as i use the car everyday and i dont want it to break down on me.
any suggestions as to what it could be ? a friend suggested air mass sensor but i dont even know what or where it is.
