Bet you get his all thime time but I basically wanted to know how your policies are for young drivers.
I'm 18, only just passed my test & own a modified Polo Mk2 Saloon.
Modifications are wheels & springs, alarm kit & new headunit. Hopefully going to fit a central locking kit.

Just wondering if you could offer any comprehensive quotes.
If not no worries!

Cheers. Joel.

P.S if anyone has any advice please shoot it this way!

Think HIC only deal with 21yr olds and older.

Not true, we do a lot of under 21 year olds as well.

Best thing I can suggest is phoning up and getting a quote. Obviously this is the kind of car we specialise in so it would be worth calling for a quick quote.

might be worth trying to insure it as classic car insurance.

It can depend on other factors, such as the car you are trying to insure etc - on higher grouped cars such as GTI's etc some of our underwriters will not quote unless you are a certain age or have held your licence for a certain length of time. Also it certainly used to be the case we could not cover under 19's but now have some underwriters who are willing to take younger drivers.

Joel, when are you 19? we will have more insurers willing to cover you then. We only have a few schemes for under 19's and fewer still who will take under 19's on modified cars but feel free to pm me your number and I will get someone to call you a see if we can help.

Also, have a read of this topic: http://www.edition38...howtopic=370784

Hopefully it may help a bit :)

Ah cheers guys. I'm 19 in Sept. When I rang HIC they basically said they couldn't insure me so that's a bit poop really. Cheapest quote I've had is 2100 TPFT. Which I don't have and don't want to pay! Especially as I've no engine mods or anything!

I did get quoted with a classic insurer (November 2011) and got a sum around 1100 TPFT but they don't insure under 21s anymore. And by the looks of things all the classic insurers have changed there policies so u21s can't get insured with them.

Shame really <_<

If anyone's got any suggestions please send em my way!
