Welcome to Edition 38 - Counting down to 10!

Hi There!

Well, there's another year gone.  Much happened this year, and we've got many ideas for our anniversary year.  Expect big changes from Edition 38 2010!! It'll be our anniversary so we hope to pull out some stops that will really show that Edition 38 is THE show to be at, not to rave, but to see and appreciate the finest dubs the world has to offer.

If you plan to come, and you are planning on camping, you should be aware that some new measures are to be taken, these will be announced ASAP.

We want to make it clear - Edition 38 is about the cars. If you like seeing the ingenuity behind mods, it's for you. If you like hearing from the owners how they built their cars, it's for you. If you like chilling out, meeting people who are into dubs and getting the opportunity to see the cars you see on the screen - up close and personal, this is DEFINITELY for you.

The cars seem strewn around the showfield, why is this?  Well, having been to shows for years, we know that some people only care about mk1's. Others only care about mk4's.  Mix it up, and people get to see everything.  Showgoers are faced with something different at every turn, and each car stands on its own merits.  You're in a mk1 golf, you aren't being compared with the ten mk1 golfs parked in a line next to you, you are standing alone where people can appreciate your car as it is.

How about you, the people who have built something special?  We pride ourselves on our judging. We have a unique drive-through judging setup, where your car is seen by a TEAM of judges.  Once all scores are totalled, the judges make group decisions to establish who wins what. You dont have to hang around by the side of your car waiting for it to be judged just in case the judge doesn't see something that you've done to your car. You take it to be judged, you are with it, and you get to explain to the judges what you've done. Cleanliness is important, but is not celebrated as much as ingenuity or downright good looks.  We do this because at an event like this, the judging has to come first.  It has to be right, and only by having the judges work as a team can it really be achieved.

What does Edition 38 offer over the two days?  Its all based around two events.  First up, 10 of the Best.  Parking your beloved amongst a field full of world-class show cars can be intimidating, and sometimes down-heartening - especially if your car is a daily driver and you just want it to look the best it can. We acknowledge the hard work that goes into all cars, and 10 of the best is our opportunity to show our appreciation for some of the cars that may not be QUITE nice enough to win car of the show, but are frankly just too cool not to notice.

The Sunday, well, that's the big deal. Edition 38 Show & Shine is all about appearance, quality, innovation, imagination, and above all, personalisation.  Best of Show Winners have ranged from Mk1 Golf's to a New Beetle, and most lately, Type 2 Detectives Brasilia (the first ever aircooled winner at Edition 38).

The trophies.  This is important to us.  We understand that you put a lot of effort into your cars, and if you are entering a show & shine event, you want something nice.  When we began, the accepted norm was a little black plastic trophy with a brass badge, or a rosette.  I'm sure anyone looking back will see that we have always tried to push the boat out with the trophies. Something nice, something quality, something you can remember the day by.

This is all of course, forgetting the stage.  Almost completely unique, the stage gives Edition 38 an edge over any other uk dub event.   You can walk around looking at the cars, but you can park and watch the show drive past you.  People bring their cars up on stage to be interviewed, big up their peoples, talk about their car, their views, and you get to sit with a beer, on the grass, chilling out.  Often done in a light-hearted manner, its just one more thing that makes Edition 38 unique.

The raffle car. What can we say about the raffle car?  The truth is, we do it, cause its nice to do it.  We build a car which, to be honest, would have a chance of winning a trophy.  Then once we've done that, we raffle it off.  We've seen some interesting developments over the few years we've done it, not least of all, someone winning it twice!  Unlike other car raffles, the only rules are, no crew, no staff, no sponsors.  There's no minimum tickets to be sold, even if only two tickets were sold, the car still goes.   Its been an interesting feature over the last couple of years, I suppose it'll be interesting to see if we do it again!

Anyway, thanks for reading along.  Many site updates, and our own Edition 38 shots are coming soon.
