mk2 jetta 20vt no spark agu

hi all firstly i would like to know if its a problem that i have a 10 pin engine loom and a 14 pin fusebox side on my early age ??

also do i need to relay the ecu ?

as long as you made the loom properly you can mix n match early and late big & small plug looms:

you dont have to relay the ecu, but I would at least relay the coilpacks and put a fuse in. when i make these looms i feed the ecu and coilpacks off the same relay to be 100% they get a decent power feed

ok so could this be why i have no spark ? because of the relay ? also are the wires all the same colour ? from 10 block to 14 ?

as long as they get a good ignition feed its fine, I just like to be 100% so bung in a relay.  easy enough to check look for live at the purple/black on the 10/14 pin plug both with ignition on and while cranking.

 

the wire colours usually match up fine, but its better to go by pin positions. my oem guide above shows wire colours for DBW ecu though and some of the wire colours differ to DBC looms
