Mk4 Golf battery problem.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, my 1.8t has airlift 8p management.

When my car is driven daily it is fine but if my car sits for just a week the battery runs flat.

My stereo is fitted correct as I made sure the wiring was on a switch live so does not continue to run when car is off. Alternator charges battery fine.

Does the air ride slowly drain the battery?

With my previous Golf the car could start after weeks of sitting there and that's what I want for this one to do.

Thanks

I have endless issues with Batteries on my mk4 in general.

I'd run a dedicated battery for the Air

But maybe check the system for leaks

Something will be draining it.... obviously. :)

Check for a parasitic drain, and If you have one, pull each fuse in turn until you find the culprit.

Plenty of guides on setting up a dvm across your negative terminal of your battery on YouTube etc.

Can measure voltage drop across the fuse to calculate current draw.

It could also be that the battery is knackered, how old is it? The alarm will be using power, if its not used often can you hook up a trickle charger?
